Villa Velia is a quaint and elegant classic farmhouse-style property located near Lucca on a hill overlooking the valley below. The property is immaculate, light and airy, and superbly decorated with antiques and beautiful furnishings throughout. The house itself retains its farmhouse charm by incorporating many traditional Tuscan elements such as terracotta tile floors, open beam ceilings, and painted ceilings in the second floor bedrooms.

The villa is surrounded by a delightfully landscaped garden, cared for by a gardener/care taker who lives in a separate house near the villa. The outdoor living spaces take full advantage of the view and the garden and include a terrace with a table and chairs for al fresco dining, and a pristine swimming pool complete with a sun tent (furnished with a table and chairs) and deck furniture. Near the pool are a changing room, a bathroom, and a sauna available for guests’ use.

Villa Velia is set on three floors. Just outside the villa, with the idyllic garden beyond, is a covered terrace furnished with a table and chairs that seat up to ten people for outdoor dining. On the ground floor is an open living room with a fireplace and a table and chairs that seat up to eight people. The kitchen is fully equipped for all of your cooking needs including a stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, a wood burning pizza oven, and a table and chairs for informal dining. Adjacent to the kitchen are a sunny breakfast room, a laundry area (including a washing machine, dryer, iron, and ironing board) and a shower bathroom. On the second floor is a formal living room, equipped with a satellite TV, and adjoining dining room. Both of these rooms are sunny and bright, and stylishly furnished. The master bedroom has a king bed, a satellite TV, air conditioning, and an ensuite bathroom with a double Jacuzzi tub. A second bedroom has two twin beds (that can be converted to a queen bed), air conditioning, and an ensuite bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. Both bedrooms and bathrooms on this floor have lovely painted ceilings. The third floor has two bedrooms with twin beds that can be converted into queen beds, one bedroom with one twin bed, and a shower bathroom. All bathrooms in the property are beautifully appointed for guests’ use.

The word Tuscany conjures up not only alluring vistas, food prepared with straight-from-the-garden ingredients, and delicious wines, but also an age of inspired artists during the Renaissance period. The centuries-old Tuscan way of life revolves around reaping the bounty of the earth. In addition to the incomparable Tuscan cities and the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside, Tuscany also boasts 200 miles of coastline. From the chic resorts of the Argentario peninsula, to fascinating destination such as Elba, and the beautiful Tuscan beaches, there is truly much to be explored.

From Villa Velia, there are a variety of day trips to enjoy. In Lucca, only five and a half miles away, you’ll find a quaint but urban city with few tourists, many Romanesque churches, and piazzas vibrant with life. In Pisa, eighteen miles away, you’ll find the famous leaning tower, monumental architecture, historical landmarks, and many cultural and artistic diversions. Pisa is also home to one of the Italy’s most prestigious universities. At a distance of thirty two miles is Florence, where you’ll be astounded by its historic and cultural sites. If you are interested in the beach, Livorno, the largest city on the Tuscan coast, is only thirty miles. From there, you can drive the northeastern Italian coastline to sea resort towns such as Quercianella or Castiglioncello.
