Description
Villa Tremezzo has six fantastic bedrooms and can sleep twelve guests. This magnificent villa is situated on the Western Shore of Lake Como not far from Bellagio. It is drenched in history, culture, beauty and has inspired an infinite number of poetic essays, descriptions and studies. Built in the 1700\'s, this great, aristocratic estate is comprised of two impressive structures. Purchased by Duke Gabrio Serbelloni in 1750 as a home and study haven for his four children. This next generation transformed the Villa to the Northern Baroque style, bringing renowned painters and craftsmen to work on the villa and adding a very refined Italian garden to the Estate. During the Second World War, the Serbelloni family transfered many of their artworks from their palace in Milan to this estate on Lake Como in order to save the many porcelains, paintings, tapestries, and furnishings from destruction. Many of these pieces now form a private, separate museum, within the walls of the villa. The central part of the villa, on the upper floors, is made up of an exceptional private museum, which is kept alarmed and is viewable by special request. The private tour of the museum, that can be arranged upon request, includes the room and bed that Napolean slept in during the Italian Campaign and a most amazing collection of French Porcelain. The property is still owned by heirs of this same prestigious family who have recently restored the entire estate, while preserving the unique eighteenth century refined charm. A swimming pool has been added to the garden.
Words fail to describe this 17th century lakeside Palazzo. The Palazzo is fully staffed with maid service and private chef, and to stay here gives you the opportunity to live and breathe its history. The meals from the chef are even served on the family crested dinnerware with crystal glasses for the wine - truly elegant dining. There are stunning gardens, private mooring, private museum, ceiling paintings, and is furnished throughout with antique furniture and art. The 6 bedrooms suites have lakeside views and modern bathrooms but are decorated in keeping with the period. This is truly a very special Palazzo, offering a unique opportunity to live in a magnificent environment once only available to royalty. Fabulous for a holiday or special occasion.
