Description

Villa Rosalia is a splendid villa situated in Milo, a small village on the slopes of Mount Etna, Europe\'s highest and most active volcano and recently added to UNESCO\'s World Heritage list. Set in a commanding position, the property enjoys wonderful views over the Ionian sea from the beautiful saltwater pool (chlorine-free), well-kept garden, and spacious equipped terraces. Spread over two floors, this recently restored farmhouse preserves its traditional, rural character. The interior features the use of local materials such as terracotta and lava stone, in perfect harmony with the style of the building. Within easy reach from Villa Rosalia are other charming Sicilian villages, the natural beauty of Mt. Etna Park, and the most popular towns on the Ionian coast, such as Taormina, Catania and Syracuse. Essentials, such as shops, grocery, banks, and restaurants, are just a short walk away.

We hired Villa Rosalia as we were attending a family wedding in Taormina. As a party of ten, 5 adults and 5 children (aged 3 months to 11 years) it was absolutely perfect for our needs. It is an extremely well equipped villa with plenty of room both inside and out and surrounded by wonderful gardens full of cherry trees, lavender and jasmine. The swimming pool is large and placed at the bottom of the garden with plenty of sun beds and the most fantastic views over the sea. The owner Stefania was totally charming and went out of her way to be helpful to us and was on the end of a phone if needed. Milo is quite a small place but has a lovely bakery and a couple of supermarkets but for more supplies we went into Zafferana Etnea which was only a ten minute drive and has everything you need including bars, cafes and gelato!! If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay away from the hustle and bustle then I would certainly recommend Villa Rosalia.
