Once you leave the lively town of Aix-en-Provence and follow along a scenic road just two kilometers from the center, you get to a narrow little road that climbs all the way to a private, architecturally-designed house that is so light and transparent that it appears to be made out of only glass panels. The house and its surroundings blend in perfectly amongst the lush greenery of an expansive, terraced garden. This modern home benefits from an “eagle’s nest” position and is built alongside the hill it is situated on. Villa Lumiere\'s green setting, consisting of a large terraced garden planted with flowers and tall trees, is always present for guests thanks to a clever system of sliding bay windows that makes one wonder whether the garden is inside the house or the house in the middle of the garden! On the hillside opposite you can glimpse some beautiful properties hidden behind trees and on the right, just visible through the pines, lays the vibrant town of Aix.

The entrance to the villa is on the side, close to a terrace that is situated alongside the kitchen. This furnished terrace (with benches, teak chairs, small tables and parasols) is a wonderful area to enjoy morning breakfasts or evening aperitifs. Meals can be taken at a large round table situated in a corner of the terrace. The main front door leads into a large entrance hall facing a mezzanine and the TV room with flat-screen Satellite TV and sofa. To the right is a well-proportioned living room, cheerfully decorated with interesting and unusual paintings. In the center, a sofa and armchairs are harmoniously displayed on either side of a fireplace. This living room opens out onto a terrace. The dining room extends all along the bay windows of the south facing terrace and consists of a large, light wood table able to seat numerous guests. The kitchen is a practical, compact but very well-fitted kitchen decorated in soft tones of beige and grey, and opens out onto the furnished terrace through sliding bay windows. The same sliding bay windows can be found throughout the house, at each level. Most rooms open out onto south facing terraces or on the sides directly onto the garden for the bedrooms.
On the left hand side of the entrance a staircase along the inside garden leads to two bedrooms situated side by side and sharing the same bathroom (with shower) and WC. Both have direct access to the garden through sliding glass doors.
The staircase carries on around the inside garden to the master suite, a comfortable and elegant room, that is privately situated at the end of the house. Light and elegantly furnished, this room, as well as its en-suite bathroom, opens out directly onto the garden through sliding glass windows.
At the end of the terrace that runs along the glass walls of the front of the house is a light-green swimming pool, almost hidden by an olive tree and discreetly situated behind a fence. A wall of greenery and flowers surrounds the pool but also protects it, and in a corner, a silver leaf olive tree is reflected in the water and a wooden deck awaits you for sunbathing.
The town center of Aix is two km away. Close by is a bus stop. Less than one km away is a small commercial center offering bakers, paper shop, an excellent butcher, hairdresser, small supermarket and accommodation shop open daily until 22h.
Close by, in the hills, Le Cabanon will warmly welcome you either around its swimming pool for salads or in the evenings for a more sophisticated dinner under the trees.
