The northern Italian city of Mantova is a beautiful, historic city surrounded on three sides by lakes. Piazza del\'Erbe, Mantova\'s central piazza, is one of the most beautiful in all of Italy - it\'s a lively square where both locals and visitors congregate. There are many cafes and several great restaurants in and around the piazza. In 2005 Mantova was named Italy\'s most livable city due to artistic and historical treasures, excellent culinary traditions, and wide variety of available activities: from boat excursions on the lakes surrounding the town, to the cycle tracks connecting the town to lake Garda.
This is a region rich in both culture and nature, conveniently located close to Bologna, Venice and Milan. There are many possibilities for excursions, including visits to Verona, Sabbioneta and Lake Garda, which are just a 40 minute drive away, or Cremona, the town of the violin makers, which is a one hour’s drive away.
