The Amalfi Coast has \"acted\" as the backdrop to countless films that capture the alluring beauty, history and romance of this stunning coastline in southern Italy\'s region of Campania. From Positano to Amalfi to Ravello to Maiori, the jewels of the Amalfi Coast have always been a popular setting for movies, from great film classics to Hollywood blockbusters. During the 1950\'s, the Italian neo-realism film-maker Roberto Rossellini chose Maiori as his setting for some of his movies, including \"Paisà\" (1946), \"The Miracle\" (1948), and \"The Just Avenger Machine\" (1948).
As witnessed by many people, the noble residence Casa Rossellini was the true-life love nest of Roberto Rossellini and leading actress Anna Magnani, with whom he had an intense, sweet, passionate and stormy relationship.
This beautiful apartment occupies part of the first floor of an early 19th century, two-storey palace (with elevator). This historic accommodation was completely restored in late 2012, after an intense period of renovation during which original frescoes, dating back to latest 1900, were discovered. The property was very carefully renovated by master craftsmen, and has been restored to all its former glory with modern comforts discreetly added. There are high ceilings throughout, and the house is fully equipped with air conditioning/heating units. The apartment offers a sitting/dining room, two double bedrooms (with ensuite bathrooms) decorated with frescoes and original terracotta tile floors. Casa Rossellini also offers a large, private roof terrace, which serves as an ideal setting for enchanting meals or sunset cocktails while admiring sea views. The terrace is reached by an internal stairway consisting of 85 steps, or, more simply, by the elevator. The terrace is fully equipped with a dining table seating four people, a large sun umbrella, sun loungers, and an external shower. The spectacular view from the terrace includes the entire town of Maiori and the sea beyond.
Please note, as a result of the street below some traffic noise can be heard. However, the blinds and doors are well insulated, blocking a majority of the sounds at night. Shops, bars, restaurants, are just few feet away from the house. A stay at Casa Rossellini is ideal for those who wish to be right in the heart of all tourist activities, including the beach, public transportation, restaurants and boutiques.
Accommodation details: 100 square meters + 25 square meters of private roof terrace. Access is into the living room, which is paved with terracotta tiles. The modern and comfortable furnishings include a white two-seater leather sofa, a dining table for four guests, a flat screen satellite TV, a kitchenette equipped with a two-burner electric stove, an electric oven, a small refrigerator with freezer, an Italian-style coffee-maker, and two windows with views onto the inner yard. Both bedrooms have a flat screen TV, an air conditioning/heating unit, a safe box, and an ensuite bathroom decorated with sea green mosaic tiles and equipped with a washbasin, a toilet, a fully enclosed shower and a hairdryer. From the bedrooms there is access onto a Juliet balcony with a view of the sea and of the boulevard below.

The apartment is located in the town center of Maiori. The beach and the seaside promenade are right across the street. All essentials (bars, shops, restaurants, banks, post office) are a few steps away. Bus stop marked SITA to Amalfi(7 km), Ravello(9 km), Sorrento (35 km), Salerno (22 km), Positano (20 km), etc. is just 50 meters away. Ferries and hydrofoil ply daily from Amalfi to Capri (1½ hour), Positano (20 min.), Ischia (2½ hour), and Salerno (1 hour). The services operate only during the Summer.
