This incredible 1000 year old abbey was purchased several years ago by a progressive, forward thinking Italian family. They have now successfully accomplished their vision to restore the broken down buildings and have turned the property into a near paradise where visitors from around the world can come together to work, study, rest, and be refreshed. Established in 1085 by Benedictine monks, the abbey was devoted to study, meditation and farming, and includes over 2500 acres of the most pristine natural landscape including a huge band of forest, cultivated fields, pastures, horse paddocks, lakes, and the incredibly beautiful Val d’Orcia valley. In the Province of Siena and just about half way between Florence and Rome, it’s an ideal location to enjoy the beauty of Tuscany and still be relatively close to these major cities. The estate includes the main abbey with meeting and conference rooms, a cooking school, a lovely chapel for weddings and other religious occasions, and catering services. A few steps from the abbey is a converted mill that offers accommodations for up to 25 people in individual suites that enjoy a nice view over the lake as well as hills, woods and fields with horse paddocks. These can be rented by the night for additional guests and personal staff. Scattered across the lovely and serene landscape are 11 independent and private villas, originally built between 1400 and 1900, totally restored and with their own private pool and breathtaking views.
