This charming 17th century villa to rent near Siena in the Chianti was once a schoolhouse for a large estate, and has been restored as the private home of one of the family members. The restoration was carefully designed to retain the original architectural features with vaulted ceilings, cotta pavers, and brickwork floors. This beautiful Italian home is large and will comfortably accommodate 10 people. Views are classically Tuscan in the midst of olive groves. Here you\'re private and yet very close to dining, shopping, and many activities including touring Chianti, horseback riding, tennis, and mountain biking. Surrounded on three sides by an olive grove, this period property is very private and affords a wonderful view of the rolling hills of the countryside and vineyards.
On the ground floor you will find an open kitchen with tiled counter, 4-burner gas stove, oven, refrigerator, separate freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and double sinks. The dining room has a large window, and can comfortably seat up to 10.
Just off the dining room is a large terrace extending along the east side of the house. The terrace is paved in terra cotta, and set with large table and canvas umbrella for dining al fresco. A second picnic table is set under a rose covered trellis on the south side of the house, with a path that leads to the lower terrace where the pool area is fully furnished for sunbathing and has an outdoor shower. The living room extends in an L-shape with two sitting areas, and includes a large stone fireplace and hearth. This room is comfortably furnished with couches and chairs, CD player and double doors that open to the terrace. The ground floor has a guest bath, and a second living/dining room with a corner kitchen appointed with modern appliances, dining for four and casual couch and chairs. This room overlooks and opens to the rose covered trellis. The master bedroom suite is located on the second floor, which includes a king bed, large walk-in closet, and large ensuite bath. One bedroom has antique Tuscan twin beds, a large armoire, and is decorated with cat prints on the wall. There\'s an ensuite full bath with enclosed shower stall for this bedroom. The second twin bedroom has lots of light, an antique dresser and armoire, and includes a small ensuite bath. Two additional twin bedrooms with beds that can be made into king size are located off the second living/dining room. One has a small ensuite bath and the second has a full bath in the hall.
All rooms have screened windows. All bathrooms have a hair dryer. 4 hours of maid service on Monday and 4 hours on Wednesday included in the price.
Chianti Estate is located on a working farm which produces olive oil and wine available for your purchase, It\'s an ideal location for tours of the Chianti countryside, Siena, nearby villages where you can find delicious local cuisine and unique shops, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
A shared tennis court in green-set is located on the property. Guests are offered a complimentary wine and oil tasting with a tour of the ancient Villa and gardens. The owners will warmly welcome you and assist you with your needs.
In the summer you can listen to many concerts in the city of Siena and in the nearby hill towns organized by the very famous Accademia Musicale Chigiana. Don\'t forget that on the 2nd of July and 16th of August there is the Palio race, followed by a stunning medieval feast. In autumn, enjoy wine and oil harvesting ,short and long walks among fields and woods.
