Tips for Traveling and Renting in French Riviera - Cote d'Azur The French Riviera or the Cote d´Azur, is perhaps the world´s most renowned coastline. Stretching along the Mediterranean from St. Tropez to Monaco, the French Riviera is the playground of the world´s rich and famous. This is an area where people watching has been refined to an art.
After people watching, stroll through the ancient medieval towns of Antibes and St. Tropez. Visit Cannes where the world famous film festival is held each year. Drive up to Monte Carlo to see the opulent casino and the ever-present fleet of magnificent yachts.
Then, when you feel the need to get away from it all, retire to your villa and relax by the pool with its sweeping panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the off-shore islands.
Houses - There are many relatively modern homes along the French Riviera which are affordable, and very comfortable. Most properties have a pool and are nicely furnished. These houses are generally similar to what would be found in a nice ocean front area of the U.S.
The beautiful and famous Cote d'Azur, or Blue Coast, is also known as the French Riviera. This area stretches from Menton to La Napoule and includes such famous spots as Monaco, Nice, Grasse, and Cannes. The climate is wonderful, with a mild and sunny winter, hot summer with cool evenings, and usually a pleasantly warm spring and autumn. Easy to reach, there are direct flights into Nice from New York, Paris, and London. The newest TGV high-speed train from Paris takes only 4 hours. We represent many lovely homes and apartments here where you can rest and relax between outings. Of course water sports are a big plus in this area, as well as the food and wine. Many go for the Grand Prix Formula 1 Race and the Cannes Film Festival in May. Antibes offers its famous Jazz Festival the end of July.
Villas - The French Riviera has long been a favorite vacation spot of the well-to-do in France and England. There are, consequently, many large, magnificent villas. Some of these have impressive histories and are furnished with beautiful taste and style.
Apartments - In addition to beautiful homes and villas, the French Riviera offers a wide variety of apartments. The apartments range from three star residence apartments to deluxe properties located in historic buildings just a block from the Cannes film festival.
Other Points To Consider
Weather - Weather along the French Riviera is pleasant most of the year, with very warm days during the height of summer and a brief cold period in January and February.
Traffic - The French Riviera has become an extremely popular vacation destination for many Europeans. Consequently, traffic along the beach front during the peak European vacation months of July and August can be quite congested.
Dinner- Dinner in this part of France starts about 8 pm. If you want an earlier dinner you may wish to check beforehand, or make reservations for dinner.
Washcloths - In France the bath towels and toiletries that are furnished with a rental do not include washcloths, soaps or shampoos, so plan to bring your own.
Showers - Most places in Europe do not have showers. Instead there is a bathtub with a shower wand. Since the tubs usually do not have a shower curtain you may want to take this as an opportunity to slow down and enjoy a leisurely bath.
