Apartment Opale is located in the Dorsoduro district near Accademia Bridge, the Accademia Museum, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and Santa Maria della Salute church. Venice is one of the great renaissance cities in Italy; it boasts exceptional museums and many interesting historic sites to visit. Located in the region of Veneto on the northeastern Italian coast, Venice is literally 100 islands connected by bridges and laced with canals. The islands themselves are car-free; you can get around Venice either on foot or by canal transportation. There is a two-mile long causeway (with highway and train lines) that links Venice to the mainland at the town of Mestre. Parking is easy to find in Mestre, or there are parking lots on the edge of Venice where the highway ends. Shuttle trains regularly connect Mestre’s station to Venice’s Santa Lucia station (about 10 minutes.) Other towns of interest in the Veneto region include Padua, Ravenna, Vicenza, and Verona, all easily accessible by train. The most famous Venetian festival is Carnevale (equivalent to Mardi Gras in the US), which takes place in late January/early February.
