Where do you want to go?
Villa Trevinano sits in a unique location near the top of a hill, at around 580 meters above sea level, where Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio meet, offering amazing and unspoiled views over Val D'Orcia and Monte Amiata. The house sits on a saddle of land in the middle of the countryside; there are virtually no other houses in sight, and nothing to disturb the eye other than the beautiful Tuscan countryside.
Construction appears to date from the 18th century, and the original, quite small, building was extended at least twice since building started. The villa has been restored over a period of eight years using nothing but traditional materials and working practices (with the exception of the plumbing and electricity) and, for instance, every single tile in the building is handmade. At over 500 sqm. the house offers six very spacious bedrooms, five en suite bathrooms, and sizable reception rooms. In the winter you can snuggle into a huge oval sofa in front of a log fire, and in the summer, the thick stone walls keep the house unusually cool. The villa is entirely furnished with antiques, collected by several generations of the current owners, and has recently been restored to the highest standards. It has been designed to sleep twelve people comfortably, and to divide in half for two families if required. Each half can exist independently with its own entrance, kitchen, sitting and dining rooms.
The Villa is ideally located half way between Florence and Rome, and only five minutes from the famous Fonteverde Spa in San Casciano Dei Bagni, offering opportunities for numerous day trips and activities.
The large 60 hectare (150 acres) field around the house is on 'set-aside' until 2017, which means that it must not be farmed except for a partial mow once a year. The consequence is that it has become a wildlife paradise inhabited by deer, hares, foxes, wild-boar, stoat and many other creatures. Also spotted are buzzards, kestrel, doves, woodpeckers, woodcock, pheasants and swallows, who nest under the eaves of the house. The wild flowers change almost by the week and in the late summer the field is covered with fennel, whilst the hedgerows are full of sambuca.
Included in the rental price: water, electricity, parking, Internet connection, local phone calls

The ground floor of Villa Trevinano features a large dining room seating 12, a well-equipped kitchen (stove, oven, fridge/freezers, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, juicer, utensils), two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a children's room (although suitable for adults as well) with two beds and WC, and a small family room with Satellite TV. A large terrace offers compelling views of the countryside and is equipped with BBQ, chairs and table.
The upper floor consists of another well-equipped kitchen, three bedrooms (two with en suite bathrooms), a family/living room, and a second dining room.
The Villa is located five km away from San Casciano Dei Bagni, one of the "Borghi piů belli d'Italia", which translates as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and also a mandatory stop on the Roads of Wine and Olive Oil. The town's inhabitants are very friendly and its charming atmosphere, cafés, restaurants, pizzerias and shops will entertain you year-round. San Casciano Dei Bagni is also renowned in part because of the Fonteverde Spa that is considered amongst the best European 'wellness' centers. Guests can enjoy a number of treatments and massages in this luxury environment with a 10-15% discount, or can visit (for no cost) the original Etruscan thermal baths, which are open to the sky and free to all comers.
Behind the Villa is the Monte Rufeno National Reserve Park. Paths take you in to the heart of the forest where one can spot a variety of local flora and fauna and admire the beauty and changing colors unique to each season.
To the south there is the traditionally quaint village of Trevinano, with its two famous restaurants; the Trattoria "Da Gianfranco" (for those who enjoy local foods prepared in a casual atmosphere), or "La Parolina" with its delicate and sophisticated dishes.
