Casa Campanile is conveniently located in the historical center of the charming maritime town of Amalfi. No need for a car! The outstanding location of this house affords the visitor unsurpassed views of the Mediterranean and the stattaco red tile rooftops of the town below. Also within view are Amalfi's lovely Moorish bell tower and the strikingly beautiful facade of the Duomo Sant'Andrea.
The property, dating back to the 17th century, is filled with light, local charm and is very comfortably furnished. Every room has either a view or a door to the terrace, which runs the length of the Casa. Twenty steps from the entrance is the roof terrace, nicely furnished with a barbecue, lounge chairs, umbrellas and a large dining table for outside entertaining. This terrace is to be shared with the owner who occasionally occupies the independent studio below.
Parking is available for a fee at a nearby car park and must be booked in advance. As Casa Campanile sits 50 steps above the lower cobblestone walkway, porter service (payable locally) is available with arrangements made at time of booking confirmation.
Upon entering Casa Campanile one is immediately struck by its sense of light and air. The space exudes a distinct laid-back, Mediterranean ambiance. The living/dining room is comfortably furnished with a sofa, chairs, dining table for six and a TV (local channels only).
French doors lead out to the terrace where one is overwhelmed by the breathtaking views. The fully equipped kitchen has a stove, oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
The spacious double master bedroom is afforded French doors out to the terrace, as is one of the twin bedrooms. The other twin bedroom offers windows with lovely views to the sea. Down the hall are the two bathrooms, one available with a shower and the other a tub.
This historical property rental in the heart of Amalfi allows you to immerse yourself in the culture of the Amalfi Coast.
Founded in 840 AD, Amalfi is Italy's oldest maritime republic. It had its own coin (the Tari) and was the home of Flavio Gioia, the inventor of the compass. He also gave the maritime world and its navigators the famous maritime law known as "Tavole Amalfitane". This law enabled regulated shipping within the Mediterranean and gave rise to Amalfi's 11th century prosperity. Today, remnants of this seaside resort's glory days can be seen in its Oriental architecture and somewhat Spanish-looking homes and shops. With a very mild, temperate climate, visitors can enjoy Amalfi and its treasures any time of year.
