At the heart of the area in Italy known as Campania is the bustling capital of Naples. Once the most important city in Italy, it is now an outstanding repository of Italian art and culture; over forty percent of Italy's masterpieces reside here, more than in Florence. Campania enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate year round and offers various local festivals, regional culinary delights and numerous natural, historical and cultural assets. The jewel of Campania is the beautiful stretch of coastline just south of Naples called the Amalfi coast. Boasting some of the world's most spectacular scenery, the coastline's staggered seaside towns unfold among terraced lemon and olive groves and forests of umbrella pines. The charming and romantic towns of Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello are but a few of the delights awaiting the visitor.
