Maison de Roche is a dramatic 16th century, three story, stone house ideally situated in the heart of the charming village of Garrigues Sainte Eulalie in Provence. Completely renovated and equipped with all modern conveniences, the home is perfectly suited for a family reunion or several families on vacation together. The pool and garden area entice the visitor with its promise of relaxation and refuge. The pool house offers a kitchenette and barbecue to facilitate outdoor entertaining. Maison de Roche welcomes children and offers board games, pool toys, books, a baby cot, high chair, and a DVD player. Hiking trails, bike rentals, horseback riding and canoeing are available nearby for those inclinded towards outdoor pursuits.
Restored and decorated with its historical proclivities in mind, Maison de Roche delights the visitor with old world charm and new world amenities. The living areas are interspersed with antique and traditional Provencal furnishings. On the ground floor you will find two nicely furnished bedrooms, a modern bathroom with bathtub, a WC, laundry room with washing machine and ironing facilities and a small kitchenette with fridge. The first floor offers a cozy living room with sofa, fireplace and TV, two more bedrooms, a bathroom with bathtub, WC and a fully equipped kitchen (stove, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker). On the top floor you will find the two remaining bedrooms (one with a TV and terrace for laundry), a bathroom with bathtub and a shower room with toilet. For additional comfort, a portable heater is available.
Within a 15 minute drive from the village of Garrigues Sainte Eulalie is the Pont du Gard, a Roman wonder and engineering marvel. Because of its historical importance, the structure was added to UNESCO's World Heritage Site in 1985. The aqueduct is thought to have been built during the first century A.D. by Augustus' son-in-law, Marcus Agrippa. Designed to carry water from the natural springs of Uzes to the Roman city of Nimes, the 31-mile structure delivered 44 million gallons daily.
