Located in the Cannareggio neighborhood, the Tintoretto apartment, with three bedrooms, has room for the family. You can easily walk to St. Mark's Square, where the famed marble galleries now shelter famous cafes and luxury shops. Take a tour along the Grand Canal in a steamer starting from St. Mark's Square to see the Canal at its best.

a rich Italian dessert

2 lbs fresh mascarpone (a rich cream cheese)
1/2 c + 2 Tbsp sugar
10 eggs, separated
14 oz savoy cakes/ biscuits
16 oz hot coffee
cocoa powder to taste

Place the mascarpone in a bowl and add sugar. Add egg yolks and mix well. In a separate bowl, whip egg whites until stiff peaks form, and carefully fold into the cheese and egg yolk mixture. You should now have a fairly thick cream. Layer in a large tureen or bowl, first a layer of cheese and egg cream, then dip the savoy cakes one by one in the hot coffee and place them in a layer on top of the cream, careful not to put them too close together. Repeat. Cover the whole thing with plenty of the cream mixture and sprinkle the top with cocoa powder. Refrigerate at least two hours before serving.

Martin is a delightful owner of several properties in Provence, near the little village of Oppede. Raised in Paris, he ran a successful international marketing business there, connecting Swedish and French businesses through supermarket imports. In 1981 he and his partner decided to move south, to follow the sunshine into the heart of Provence. They began searching for a small hamlet that they could purchase and slowly renovate into rentals. They put an ad in local newspapers and visited more than 20 properties before they found the perfect place - a small hamlet with cottages, barns, and outbuildings that could be made to fit their vision.

Little by little over the next 15 years they worked to renovate. Now the hamlet construction is complete, but the updating and decorating never ends. It's exciting to meet and serve the guests, and Martin's outgoing and caring manner provides our clients an unforgettable experience. After all the years of hard work, the business has grown to provide a good living during the spring, summer and fall. In the winter Martin loves to travel and this year plans to spend time in Morocco and Southern Spain.

VillaNet is in the business of creating memories, and it's conjunctively popular right now (at least in America) to put together photo scrapbooks (www.creativememories.com). These may feature grandchildren, holiday get-togethers, trips, projects, or whatever. I personally find it an ideal way to save the memories of our travels. Particularly fun for families to do as a team, in the months following a family holiday each member can be given a section of the book to do as they like, or all can work together to arrange each page.

The challenge of collecting items to put in the book all along the way - ticket stubs, stamps, postcards, snapshots, and other souvenirs, is exciting and memorable in itself. The classic scrapbooks that I've worked on after our travel "adventures" are favorites for all our family and friends to look through. I have done a large 24 page book for each of our visits abroad, and we find it an ideal way to share our experiences without passing loose pictures around a table with subsequent fingerprints and bent corners.

"Casa Sintra was LOVELY! The compound and the plantings were so well thought out with entertainment being top of mind. The rooms spacious with tasteful decor. The owner let us in and was delightful, gave us suggestions on restaurants, showed us the beaches and where to buy food. We didn't want to leave! It was a perfect home for teenagers as well as anyone who loves games (pool, tennis, foozball etc.). I would HIGHLY recommend this to your clients!) What a FABULOUS trip!" - BC, San Diego, CA
